The City of Boise, moving towards no-sort recycling and a new trash and recycling program, had to communicate numerous changes to a large, diverse audience. They engaged us to help create an outreach campaign that would communicate these changes and options very clearly to the city’s residents.
Communicating the myriad details of the City of Boise’s new trash and recycling program to 70,000 Boise households with little confusion and clear instruction.
We first identify the proper medium, which in this case was direct mail (mass media was not selected because of the chance of confusion to surrounding cities). Then we created an identity for the program that was friendly and memorable. After the City selected a direction from several concepts, we created the direct mail and marketing collateral pieces, the program’s website, overview video and usage handbook. The release of these outreach materials was timed with the public announcement of the program and the deployment schedule from the City’s vendor, Allied Waste.
