Hot Eric was born of quirky playfulness and a desire to be different. Hot Eric is a turmeric-based raw honey superfood, which can be mixed into ice cream, cocktails, milk, water, yogurt, or nearly any other food product to add a boost of flavor and some health benefits. The product sells itself with its taste and wellness perks, but without a label and a clear way of talking about and marketing the product, it was impossible to get on shelves. We worked closely with Molly, the brains behind Hot Eric, to incorporate her humor and boldness into a memorable design she loved. We created a product character for each item, with a tongue-in-cheek name that people wouldn’t forget. We used bold colors, such as yellow, orange, and purple to stand out against the earth-tone labeled natural products she intended to market against. With a viable brand, website and product label, she’s been able to sell into three additional retailers.
