Every year, The Sand County Foundation presents one rancher from each state with the Leopold Conservation Award—a recognition of extraordinary achievements in voluntary conservation and sustainable practices. Its goal is to inspire other landowners to advance the cause of conservation by showcasing a select few who have acted as ambassadors for the agricultural community.
This year, we had the major honor of documenting Montana’s winner—C Lazy J Livestock. In order to capture their story, we spent three days shadowing the French family on their Malta, Montana ranch capturing their daily routines and methods on film—hopefully, to serve as a shining example for ranchers everywhere.
It was an unforgettable experience for the team, and we were beyond proud to tell their story.
