Global safety and visibility equipment manufacturer ECCO Safety Group sought to redesign their entire online presence. Clunky, oudated design and limited functionality made the customer and distributor experience less than ideal. All recommendations and implementation were centered around the customer. We began the ground-up UX restoration with sitemaps and wireframes and a content strategy that would work for multiple languages and product lines. The end result was a cleaner design and clearer direction to products and resources.
A broad global customer base accessing websites from different industries and regions can make a one-size-fits-all approach next to impossible, but that’s what Ecco sought to do. Each brand site needed functionality to improve the customer experience and a cohesive look to match, without making maintenance cumbersome.
We designed with duplicity in mind, designing an interface that could be easily used by all of the brands. With localization and a geolocator, the site automatically optimized for the area, sharing relevant products in the local language. We improved ecommerce with the addition of a shopping cart and distributor portal, making reorder quick and easy. Targeted promotions and advertising meant that customer see only what’s relevant to their industry and location. Rich product features, which included video, allowed customers to see product on vehicles before making a purchase. And, because we streamlined the design, we were able to hand a fully-functioning website back to the client for them to manage and update—there’s no post-implementation hostage-holding!
