Joe began his career during the early days of web development and the beginning of digital video, where he put his natural storytelling ability and technical proficiency to work in pushing the limits of what was possible. In addition to actively developing websites, directing and editing videos, and ensuring the timely delivery of innovative solutions, he has built and led teams of programmers, animators, and video resources. He’s produced a comprehensive range of content–from long-form video and marketing campaigns to complex web systems and heartfelt stories–for brands including Apple, Jim Beam, Microsoft, Motorola, Nokia, and Oakley. His three decades of experience across various industries, business types, and mediums provide the strategic framework for many of our client engagements.

As our CEO, Joe ensures that we deliver on our promise to challenge and deliver. He leads business development efforts and believes in a strong vetting of potential clients to ensure a fit. He also leads the client service team in taking great care of our clients. His calm demeanor and problem-solving skills ensure that SOVRN and our clients don’t lose sight of the things that matter. As one of our founders, he ensures that we remain a transparent company that treats employees, clients, and partners with respect. No bullshit.

Joe grew up on an alfalfa farm in Hill City, Idaho, and remains involved as a fifth-generation farmer. He’s an amateur builder, casual hunter, and recreational shooter. Coming from a long line of entrepreneurs, he is a staunch supporter of small business, and has served on Intuit’s Small Business Council since it began in 2019. He’s a big fan of interesting conversation, and among the favorite parts of his career is the hundreds of interviews he’s conducted during his career with people of all walks of life, from athletes to students, parents to executives, tradesmen to community leaders. As Joe says, “Everyone’s got a story, and I love hearing ’em all.”
